Deportivo La Coruna Not Desperate to Try to Start Lucas Perez From Arsenal
Deportivo La Coruna President Tino Fernandez intends to travel to London week. He will meet Arsenal executives in a last-ditch effort to pull back Lucas Perez to La Liga.
Perez joined the Gunners last summer with a transfer of 17 million pounds from Deportivo. Now, he is open to going after getting frustrated at Arsenal for lack of playing opportunities.
Depor has been monitoring the situation for the 28-year-old. La Corita newspaper based in La Corita reported that Fernandez hopes to soon negotiate with the Gunners to get Perez’s services.
Fernandez said that his club’s transfer effort to get Perez is a difficult thing, with other European clubs also wanting the player’s services. But he insists that his club will continue to struggle to take him home.
But the US now reports that Depor is the only club still fighting to sign Perez. Newcastle and Fenerbahce had previously been interested in ending their interest.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wants Perez, but he is reportedly on the brink of success to get Joselu from Stoke City instead. Fenerbahce, meanwhile, agreed to sign Roberto Soldado from Villarreal last week.
Deportivo took time to negotiate
Perez is one of the key players in La Liga in the 2015-16 season, after he scored 17 goals and collected 8 assists in 35 games for Depor, who started the season with defending champions Real Madrid.
Deportivo La Coruna coach Pepe Mel is trying to be patient in his pursuit of Perez, who is tied to Arsenal until June 2020.
“We need time. We want things to move faster but to bring in the players we want, we have to be patient, “he concluded.
Perez’s chances of getting a chance to play at Arsenal this season are shrinking, especially after his club brought in French striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. Not to mention another striker Olivier Giroud still decided to stay, and he performed well in the first week of the season. (Source: ESPN)
