Guardiola: Kylian Mbappe Still Far Under Messi
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola admits Kylian Mbappe is a good player. However, according to Guardiola, the ability of the 18-year player is still far below Lionel Messi.
Kylian Mbappe is one of Europe’s best young players today. He was instrumental in the success of Monaco won last season’s Ligue 1 with 15 goals and 11 assists in 29 games.
“Nothing can be level with Messi, maybe Mbappe is a top player, he will be a great player, I’m pretty sure of that but to match what Messi has done in 10 or 12 years, or Cristiano Ronaldo, must wait, “said Guardiola as reported by Soccerway.
Kylian Mbappe moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the last transfer window. Of the two matches that have been passed, Mbappe has scored two goals.
“I know Mbappe will not like me giving him pressure, I think Messi plays in 60 or 70 games every season, he always scores goals and helps the team, always plays every three days, never injured because he controls his body.
“That’s why I do not think we can hypothesis by saying that Mbappe will be his successor, so let Mbappe have a fantastic career that he will have and then we’ll see in the future,” Guardiola added.
Messi himself enjoyed an outstanding and achieving career journey over at Camp Nou, winning eight La Liga trophies and four Champions League. He also successfully won five Ballon d’Or trophies. Together Barcelona, Messi appeared in 589 games and scored 515 goals.
